Laboratory "Electric rolling stock control systems"

The laboratory is equipped with facilities for studying electromagnetic processes in electric circuits used in locomotives and trains of both direct and alternating current with commutator traction motors. Each bench is a physical model of an electric locomotive and has a loading device in the form of an engine and a generator connected to it, which allows simulating an electric locomotive with a train of cars and their resistance to movement. The benches make it possible to study the parameters and characteristics of the stepwise and smooth regulation of the voltage and magnetic flux of excitation of traction motors in order to control the speed of movement in the modes of traction and electric braking.

An electronic training simulator for the driver of a DC electric locomotive of the VL10 series is installed in the laboratory (see photo). The simulator allows to learn how to control an electric locomotive, study driving modes of various trains, learn how to find ways of solving emergency situations.
