The laboratory is equipped with real models of traction electric motors of electric locomotives. It allows studying design of both separate units (frame, magnetic poles, anchor, collector-brush apparatus) and assembled machines. In addition to studying operation of traction electric machines in motor and generator modes, the benches are also used for conducting research in the field of quality improvement of traction motors operation on electric rolling stock.
The laboratory presents full-scale models and mock-ups of the mechanical parts of main-line electric locomotives and electric trains. A universal bench for studying operating modes of the Electric Rolling Stock (ERS) allows studying the features of train movement control, implementation of traction and braking forces on various railway sections.
