There are two periods in the history of physical education and sports at TEMIIT — OSTU: Tomsk (1930—1961) and Omsk (since 1961). In the first period, military and physical training were closely interconnected. From 1935—1938 in parallel with the military, a military physical education department was established, which was commanded in 1935—1936. — N.K. Voytyuk, in 1936–1937 — P.K. Orel, and in 1937-1938. - M. N. Nikolaev. In 1938, two separate departments were formed: “Military” and “Physical Culture”. M.N. Nikolaev was appointed the head of the military department, N.K. Zhuravlev — the department of physical education. In 1940-1941, these two departments were again united into one — “Military physical training”. The first staff of the department consisted of nine teachers under the direction of M.N. Nikolaev. In the period from 1941-1943. the department worked as a part of only six to seven teachers, led by Sobolevsky. The number of teachers decreased due to a decrease in the number of students at the university.
In 1948, in parallel with the department of military-physical training, led by Kuleshov, a department of physical education and sports was established, which was headed by Artemyev. In the years 1949—1950. The Department of Physical Education and Sport was headed by N.K. Zhuravlev, who was later replaced by N.Ya. Rublev.
The material base of the department could be described as follows: a large sports hall, a ski base, a garage, which housed a motor section and a GAZ AA DOSAAF car. For classes and passing the rules of the TRP, the Tomsk stadium Dynamo was used, which was located opposite the institute. Swimming was handed over on the Tom river, skis - across the river on the town and on the Basandayke river. After 1953, when A. A. Seregin became the rector, his own stadium was built in the area of the pontoon bridge. Motosection received a large room in the basement of the new hostel. TEMIIT was the smallest university in Tomsk, but its teams were leaders in many sports.
When the Institute was relocated to Omsk in 1961, during the formation of the department, additional teachers of Omsk were invited. Composition of the department 1961–1966: N. Ya. Rublev — head of the department, I.G. Fadeev, V.G. Golovlev, Yu.V. Golubev, V.A. Konovalov, A.I. Muller, B.N Kozik, V.N. Popkov, V.Ya. Razumovich, P.N. Smirnov, N.S. Trubin, N.N. Shilova; laboratory assistants — I.P. Rubleva, A.N. Darovsky, I.Ya. Feklistov, V.F. Malykhin; G.M. Arshansky is a doctor.
The sports base of the department in Omsk in 1961 was located in poorly adapted club premises. In the only sports hall, classes were held on the main course and the sports development course in gymnastics, basketball, athletics, volleyball, wrestling.
From 1968 to 1975, the head of the department was the senior lecturer V. Konovalov. The work to develop the sports base of the department began in 1970, when an “insert” was built between the dormitories, which housed the halls of weightlifting, gymnastics, and wrestling. Later a chess club was built, a ski base for 250 pairs of skis, a shooting range. In 1971, a sports and health camp was built in with. Black Rays. In 1974, a four-hall sports complex was put into operation, which housed the halls of sports games, gymnastics, weightlifting, boxing, outdoor sports grounds, a gymnastic town, a tennis court, and a treadmill.
In the years 1976-1980 the head of the department is the senior lecturer L.N. Gridnev, in 1981-1985. — Associate Professor B.P. Yakimovich, in 1986—2002. — Associate Professor V.A.
