Abstract
The article examines the development of production and trade in the Ural-Siberian region of Russia in the pre-Soviet period. Shows the formation and activities of large merchant and industrial companies, the growth of production and trade turnover, the formation of elements of the capitalist structure. At the same time, attention is paid to the emergence and expansion of charitable activities, the creation of cultural centers and institutions for helping people in distress. The role of the most active entrepreneurs in the charitable process is shown.
