The purpose of the research is to form rational proposals for deregulating ticket prices for long-distance passenger trains by analyzing the domestic experience of ticket pricing and conducting marketing research in 19 most popular destinations. The article calculates the deregulation of ticket prices on the Sochi-Krasnodar and Yekaterinburg-Perm routes, and plots the elasticity of demand for tickets when the ticket price increases or decreases. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the possibility of deregulating ticket prices by reducing the average capacity utilization rate to the minimum in each of the presented groups. As a result of the performed calculations, two most rational methods were identified: changing the price using an increasing coefficient of ticket cost and segmentation by distance of transportation; reducing the average capacity utilization coefficient and applying an increasing coefficient of cost without using any segmentation.
